About the Artist

Ákos Strenner is a Hungarian-born artist based in New York City, known for his vivid, expressive oil paintings and over 25 years of experience as a professional tattooer. With a lifelong connection to visual storytelling, Ákos explores the emotional and symbolic tensions between tradition and technology, humanity and artificial intelligence.

His paintings are deeply personal, often built around bold colors, layered portraits, and surreal scenes that reflect both inner states and social themes. While his tattoo work remains rooted in precise, black and grey realism, his fine art opens a different channel—one of freedom, color, and quiet solitude. For Ákos, painting is a meditative process, a return to the purest form of creation without outside constraints.

Themes of transformation, vulnerability, and human connection run through much of his work. Lately, his focus has shifted toward the evolving relationship between people and machines, approached from a skeptical yet curious lens. Though he incorporates these questions into his art, his process remains entirely human-made—both as a choice and a statement.

Ákos continues to tattoo selectively while expanding his painting practice, with new work regularly exhibited and collected across the U.S. and Europe.
